Jonathan and Zooey are making themselves at home in the Big Apple! They’ve been hard at work renovating their New York City apartment, and now it’s ready for its closeup. Jonathan and Zooey are sharing the full tour in the latest issue of Architectural Digest, and you won’t want to miss it.
Every inch of the gorgeous space is full of special details: there’s custom millwork throughout, from the kitchen to the kids’ room; perfectly executed pattern and color mixing, thanks to Jonathan and local NYC designer Young Huh; and even hidden screens so the family can have movie nights without the visual clutter of a TV.
One standout room we can’t stop thinking about? The kitchen! We already know Jonathan and Zooey love a colorful cooking space (if you haven’t seen their green kitchen at the Park House, now’s your chance!). But, of course, Jonathan also tricked it out with functional upgrades, including hidden appliances, plenty of closed storage, and so much more. Now, it’s the perfect place to entertain and hang out with their family.
Another fun detail you’ll want to look out for—the lighting. “This is the side effect of being engaged to someone whose father is a world-class cinematographer,” Jonathan says in the AD Open House tour. “Lighting is very important.” But with Murano glass pieces, plaster sconces, custom lampshades, and statement chandeliers throughout, it’s easy to see they achieved their ambiance goals. “The lighting feels magical, and moody, and fun,” Zooey says.
In the Architectural Digest tour, you can also expect to hear how Jonathan transformed a blank brick wall into the focal point for their downstairs family room, peek inside their primary suite and the kids’ room, and check out all three of the terraces.
“Being in this space for the first time was incredible,” Zooey says. “I mean, it was like a Christmas present.”
