Watch Jonathan and His Parents React to Their House Tour Video
Recently, Drew made a surprise visit to Mom and Dad’s for a tour of their new Los Angeles home. He walked through the whole house, covering every room from the front door to their backyard made for entertaining. After filming, however, Jonathan thought it’d be fun to watch the video back with their parents Jim and Joanne Scott and get their reaction (complete with some playful jabs at his twin brother, of course!). Their parents talk through their favorite rooms, what they’ve loved about Drew and Jonathan’s renovation choices, and the thoughtful decisions behind the design to make their house feel like a home.
As Joanne, Jim, and Jonathan sat down to watch the tour back together, they also pointed out just how much has already changed since they bought the place, and even since filming the episode of Don’t Hate Your House. “Originally, there were so many different levels. The front entry was really cramped, and a different level, and a trip hazard,” Jonathan says. “What has changed for you now and how you use the front entry when people come visit?”
“I mean, it’s so nice and open and bright,” Joanne says. There were plenty of big differences, like demoing the walls to open up the space and leveling the floors to make it seamless, but even small touches like the added overhang on the roof make a huge difference in the functionality of the space.
Which room of the house is Mom’s favorite? The new kitchen, of course! We all know how great of a cook Joanne is, and she adores her new kitchen. There’s so much storage and prep space, and it blends right into dining and living rooms, so she can watch her grandkids run around and be part of the fun while they’re hosting family parties. She even surprised Jonathan with some of her famous mint desserts while they watched the tour back together. “The mint dessert is hands-down my favorite dessert,” Jonathan says. “The only reason I did the renovation is so she had a kitchen where she could make me mint dessert all the time.” (Grab Joanne’s mint dessert recipe for yourself here!)
